Don't take more than 10 years for engg course.
VTU fed up of Engineering students taking 'ages' to complete the four year course. Hence it is fixing a dead line of 10 years. If students doesn't complete the course within 10 years, they will not get another chance to
write the exam.
VTU registrar K V A Balaji said "By the time a student comes out of an engineering college after four years a lot of things would have changed. Imagine the plight of those who do not complete it even after 10 years."
New rules demand that a student should complete the course within 10 years.
As per the amendments approved in the council, those admitted under lateral entry scheme (For diploma students) up to 2007-08, the maximum duration for the completion of the course is 8 years. For students who
have sought admission during are after 2008-09 under lateral entry scheme, the maximum duration for completion of the course is 6 years.
Students take care to complete the course before the university deadline, to get degree.
